Grooming
Grooming is more than just appearance—it’s an experience that should feel safe, calm, and stress-free for your dog.
At House of Fido, I take a behaviour-led approach to grooming, focusing on your dog’s emotional wellbeing as much as the physical result. Many dogs find grooming overwhelming, especially if they’ve had negative experiences in the past. Rather than rushing or forcing the process, I use gentle, science-based desensitisation techniques to help your dog feel more comfortable over time.
Every groom is tailored to the individual dog. I work at their pace, reading body language closely and adjusting the session to ensure they feel secure throughout. This means that for some dogs, progress may be gradual—but it is always meaningful and long-lasting.
What makes this different?
- Behaviour-focused approach to reduce fear and stress
- Calm, one-to-one environment
- Sessions adapted to your dog’s needs and tolerance
- Ideal for anxious, reactive, or sensitive dogs
- Focus on building trust, not just completing the groom
A long-term approach
For dogs who struggle, grooming may not be “perfect” straight away—and that’s okay. My priority is to create a positive experience first, helping your dog learn that grooming is safe. Over time, this leads to better cooperation, less stress, and improved results.

Services include:
- Full grooms (adapted to behaviour and tolerance)
- Bath and dry
- Nail care
- Puppy introductions to grooming
- Desensitisation sessions for grooming tolerance
At House of Fido, grooming is never rushed or forced. It’s about building confidence, trust, and a better experience for your dog—every step of the way.
